iGaming platform RFP checklist: 25 questions to compare platform vendors

Insights

No iGaming platform is the best for every operator. Each major vendor is built around a different buyer: sportsbook depth, casino catalogue, enterprise governance, suite breadth, or speed and crypto. A good RFP finds the fit, then tests it with questions the sales deck does not answer.

This guide does both. First one paragraph of fit per vendor, Sirplay included and with its limits stated. Then 25 questions to send to every vendor on your shortlist, with what a good answer looks like.

Disclosure: Sirplay is one of the vendors compared, and this page is published by Sirplay. Descriptions of other vendors reflect their public positioning as of October 2026. Verify every point directly with each vendor; that is what the questions are for.

How to use this guide

An RFP is a control tool, not a formality. Whoever writes the questions sets the terms of the comparison; whoever lets each vendor present on their own terms ends up comparing presentations. Send the same questions to every vendor, in writing, with the same deadline.

Machiavelli advised rulers to choose capable counsel, question it on everything and distrust flattery, because only the one who asks hears the truth. Vendors are not counsellors, but the rule holds: ask in writing, compare answers line by line, and treat any answer that only praises its own product as a non-answer.

Use the fit section to decide who gets the RFP. Use the 25 questions to decide who gets the contract.

Fit, not ranking

Each vendor below is described by the buyer it suits best and by what you should check before signing. None of this is a ranking. The right choice depends on what your business must control.

Altenar presents itself as a sportsbook specialist: betting depth, bet builder, live markets, promotions and retail. It fits an operator whose main problem is the sportsbook itself. Check the scope of casino and crypto, which are not the centre of its offer.

SOFTSWISS is known first for casino: game aggregation, casino platform and an early crypto-casino history. It fits an operator for whom catalogue breadth and casino operations are the deciding factor. Check sportsbook depth for your markets and the terms for exporting the player account system if you leave.

EveryMatrix offers a modular enterprise suite in which casino, sportsbook, player account and payments can be bought separately, with broad regulated-market coverage. It fits groups that need multi-brand governance. Check project timelines and cost for a single brand or a first launch.

BetConstruct offers a broad ecosystem (sportsbook, casino, live games, retail and crypto capabilities) with a strong presence in emerging markets. It fits an operator who wants one supplier for almost everything. Check lock-in: data ownership, module unbundling and exit terms.

Sirplay has built sportsbook-first software since 2005 and states 40+ bookmakers in 11 countries as customers. It fits an operator for whom go-live time, configurable risk (Nash AI) and a crypto stack with the legal duties clearly on the operator matter most. Its limits: it is not a catalogue-first aggregator (it offers 30,000+ games from 150+ providers, not the largest catalogue on the market), not a sportsbook-only specialist, and smaller than enterprise groups. Ask us the same 25 questions.

The 25 questions to send every vendor

Group them as below. For each question, “a good answer” describes what to expect from a vendor that is telling you the whole picture.

A. Licence and perimeter

  1. Who holds the licence in your model, and in whose name are player-fund accounts opened? A good answer: the operator, in both cases, unless the contract says otherwise in plain words.
  2. In which of my target markets is your software, or your company, licensed or registered as a supplier? Many regulated markets, including most US states, license B2B suppliers too. A good answer: a list by market, with licence numbers.
  3. Which parts of KYC, AML and responsible gambling do you provide as tools, and which stay with me as duties? A good answer separates tools from obligations.
  4. Do you also operate consumer brands that could compete with mine? A good answer: a clear yes or no.

B. Certification

  1. Which product versions are certified, by which lab, against which standard, for which jurisdiction, and when? A good answer: the certificates, not a logo wall.
  2. Who pays for and manages re-certification after updates? A good answer names an owner and a timeline.
  3. Which security certifications cover the hosting and the company, such as ISO/IEC 27001, and with what scope? A good answer includes the scope statement.

C. Data ownership and exit

  1. Who owns the player database, and in which format and how fast can I export it in full? A good answer: you own it; standard formats; days, not months.
  2. What is the exit process: notice period, migration support, cost, and who keeps the domain? A good answer is a contract clause, not a promise.
  3. Can I access raw bet, transaction and bonus data, not just dashboards? A good answer: API or scheduled export.
  4. Can I buy modules separately and replace one without replacing the others? A good answer names the modules that cannot be unbundled.

D. Service levels and operations

  1. What uptime do you commit to, how is it measured, and what is the credit if you miss it? A good answer: a number, a method and a penalty.
  2. What support hours and response times apply to a P1 incident on a Saturday night? A good answer: a named process, not “24/7 support”.
  3. What exactly is inside your go-live estimate, and which steps are mine? A good answer is a plan with an owner on every step.
  4. How do you release updates, and can I delay one before a major event? A good answer includes a change calendar.

E. Sportsbook and risk

  1. Which events are actively traded, which are only fed, and how fast are live markets suspended? A good answer can be tested in the demo.
  2. Who sets and overrides risk limits, and is there an audit log of every override? A good answer: your team, with a log.
  3. What does your AI or automated risk do, and what does it not do? A good answer states limits: it does not carry liability or set your commercial appetite.
  4. Is winnings or liability coverage offered, under which contract and at what cost? A good answer keeps it separate from the software licence.

For the sportsbook detail behind these questions, use our sportsbook software buyer’s guide. Sirplay’s own offer is the white label sportsbook with Nash AI risk management.

F. Casino

  1. How many games can I legally activate in my market, not in the catalogue? A good answer is filtered by jurisdiction.
  2. Who controls bonus rules and abuse settings, and does every change need a vendor ticket? A good answer: your team, alone, with logs.

If the purchase itself is unclear, start with casino software vs white-label. Sirplay’s options are the White Label Casino and the casino back office behind it.

G. Crypto and no-KYC modules

  1. Which coins and wallets settle directly, who holds the keys, and how are cold-wallet sweeps controlled? A good answer distinguishes custodial from non-custodial flows.
  2. What does any “no-KYC” setting change, and what does it not change in my licence obligations? A good answer: it changes a payment-processor path, not the operator’s duty to identify players where the law requires it.

Sirplay’s crypto casino software is configured on exactly these terms.

H. Markets and channels

  1. Which references can you give in my region, and may I call them? For Latin America, Africa and Europe, ask for live operators in the same regulatory regime, not just the same continent. In the United States, only state-by-state and only where the activity is lawful.
  2. Do retail and online share one player account, one wallet and one limit? A good answer can be shown with one test customer in two channels.

How to score the answers

Score every answer from 0 to 3: 0 for no answer, 1 for a marketing answer, 2 for a clear answer, 3 for a clear answer with evidence (a document, a screen or a clause). Weight the sections by what your business must control. A typical sportsbook-led operator weights risk and data highest; a casino-led one weights casino and exit.

Three answers end most evaluations early: a vendor that will not say who holds the player funds, a vendor that cannot export your player database in full, and a vendor whose go-live estimate has no owners. Those are not weaknesses to negotiate. They tell you who would control your business after signing.

Download the scoring sheet. The 25 questions with weights, five vendor columns and red flags, in a spreadsheet your procurement team can use as it is. Request the scoring sheet with your work email.

Questions operators ask

What is an iGaming platform RFP?

A request for proposal sent to several platform vendors with the same written questions on licence perimeter, certification, data ownership, service levels, sportsbook, casino, crypto and markets. It turns sales presentations into answers you can compare line by line.

What are the alternatives to BetConstruct?

Altenar for sportsbook depth, SOFTSWISS for casino and aggregation, EveryMatrix for modular enterprise governance, and Sirplay for fast go-live, configurable risk and crypto. The right alternative depends on what you need to control.

Is SOFTSWISS or EveryMatrix better?

Neither is better in general. SOFTSWISS is known for casino and aggregation; EveryMatrix for a modular enterprise suite. Send both the same RFP questions and score the answers against your own priorities.

How long does an iGaming platform migration take?

It depends on the player data export, the payment providers and re-certification in your market. Ask each vendor for a migration plan with an owner on every step. For a new white-label stack, Sirplay quotes about 10 working days once assets and market scope are clear.

Should a platform vendor provide the gambling licence?

In most models, no. The licence is issued to the operator, who answers to the regulator. A vendor may offer licensing support, but if the vendor holds the licence, you are joining their offer, not running your own.

Should Sirplay be on my shortlist?

If go-live time, configurable sportsbook risk and a crypto stack with clear legal duties matter most, yes. If your deciding factor is the largest possible casino catalogue or a sportsbook-only specialist, other vendors may fit better. The 25 questions will show it.
